These beads measure approximately 16mm in size. The detail in the carving of these beads is just exquisite. The color is a very dark deep reddish to black brown. I believe that they are waxed to protect the wood and the wax stain is darker than the natural wood so there is a slight variation of the color from some lighter to deep dark rich color. Chinese Knots: The Chinese word for 'rope' is 'shèng' that sounds similar to the words for 'spirit,' 'divine,' and 'life.' Knots had a spiritual meaning and were used for worship. It is sometimes referred to as the endless knot, because it looks like it swallows its own tail. This symbol implies there is no beginning and no ending. the Chinese knot represents a harmonious flow of auspicious energy uninterrupted by any setbacks, accidents or misfortunes.
