Description: One (1) 1958 Washington Silver Quarter Type B Reverse FS-901, Gem BU from Original Roll of all Type B Reverse Quarters (truly.. unlike so many listings with this claim). You are bidding/buying one (1) Coin; one BU Uncirculated 1958 Washington Silver Quarter with a Type B Reverse. These all come from a true original roll acquired in 2020 along with 50+ other rolls of BU Washington Quarters from 1954-1964. All 40 Coins from the original roll have the Type “B” Reverse. Not only do all the coins have a very similar look as far as the patina, luster, strike, they all happen to have a Type B Reverse as well. This only helps affirm this roll really is an original roll where all the coins were rolled from the same batch fresh from the US Mint.I still have the full rol of 40 coins intact but I am on the cusp of sending 5 or 10 of these in for gradng. Most of this roll is in the upper end of choice uncirculated with a few making lower end gem grades. These coins exhibit Original Luster and excellent surface quality & eye appeal. The coins have been in an old generation plastic tube since the early 70s. (See last couple pictures). Please note, this liosting is for ONE (1) coin. The pictures of multiple coins are to demionstrate the coin's heritage from an all Type B Reverse roll. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th pictures are for side-by-side comparison of a type A and type B reverse. The type A quarters are not for sale in this auction and are being used for demonstration purposes only. Note that there are 2 pickup points to differentiate Type A from B. In The United States of America, the serifs on the letters ES in STATES (of America), are completely separated and do not touch or make contact with each other on the Type B reverse, whereas on the Type A quarters, the serifs of the E make contact with the left side of the S on the word STATES.The leaf on the vine at the bottom of the Type B Reverse is in HIGH RELIEFT. It connects strongly and thickly to the A in DOLLAR (QUARTER DOLLAR) below it whereas on the Type A quarter, it is in Low Relieft (ie much thinner, faint and barely touching the top of the A). The entire reverse on Type B is struck up and bold as the type B reverses were intended for Proof Strike coins. This is the main reason the type B reverse business strikes are only found on Philadelphia issued coins, and only from 1956-1964 as those were the years that design was used! More Info can be found in The Cherry Picker's Guide to Major Coin Varieties in US CoinageThe type B reverse was designed for proof strike quarters only from 1956-1964. Some of the hubs with Type B reverse ended up being used on some business strikes in Philadelphia. Of them all the 1956 are considered downright rare. All type B reverses on any date are very scarce.
