Description: Antique wooden writing box ( desk ) with original lock and key that does work. Small area with lid to store items. Two felt covered internal boxes with green felt covered lids. Dimensions closed are 11 1/2 inches side to side, 8 inches front to back and 4 inches high. Weight is about 2 1/2 pounds. Lid is slightly slanted. Highly grained wood box. Not sure what kind of wood this is. Some veneer has chipped off the sides of the lid. See pictures for details. Some writing on the back of the inside box - something about United States paid 7,200,000 for Alaska, July 25, 1875.
