Description: NGC VF Roman AE3 of Severus II AD306 - 307 Flavius Valerius Severus, also known as Severus II, was a Roman emperor from 306 to 307. Born in Northern Illyria, he rose through the ranks in the Roman army and became caesar of the Western Roman Empire. In 306, he was promoted to augustus by Galerius after the death of Constantius I. Sent to suppress a revolt by Maxentius in Rome, Severus's army deserted, and he fled to Ravenna.
