The Cuban flag -- designed in 1849 and officially adopted in 902 -- is revered by Cubans everywhere. The photo on this poster was taken in 1980 by MARIO RENE DIAZ LEYVA (born 1951), a self-taught Cuban photographer whose work has been displayed in exhibitions around the Americas. His photos can also be found in the permanent collection of the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana. This glossy poster, which measures approximately 20 by 13.5 inches (51 by 34 cm), was released by Cuba's cultural ministry as part of a portfolio that reproduced some of the most famous photos of the Cuban revolution.
