Description: Barney and Ally Hartman first came up with the name, Mountain Dew, as a joke in 1932. It was an old 19th century name for moonshine. In the early 40's, the brothers started making this lithiated lemon drink to be mixed with hard liquor. John Brochette made the first drawings of a character called Willy the Hillbilly in 1946. Later, in 1947, the Tip Corporation was now bottling Mountain Dew. In 1964, Pepsi bought the Tip Corporation with the rights to bottle Mountain Dew. In 1965, Pepsi used the "It'll tickle yore innards!" expletive with Willy the Hillbilly on some of their bottles. In 1973, the company wanted a more mature drinker, so they abandoned the Willy character to a brighter label. This bottle commemorates the "Southern Tradition, 65 Years, Est. 1947". This bottle is dated 2012. This bottle is unopened. The condition of the graphics and paper labels are perfect. The cap is also perfect.
