Description: You will receive fresh cuttings, quantity of your choosing, from our bright yellow Mexican Sunflowers growing in sunny Florida. Home grown naturally by regenerative methods with lots of love and zero chemicals or pesticides. You will receive unrooted cuttings like those in the first picture. These cuttings are cut fresh to order and are approximately 6-8 inches long, with the leaves removed. These cuttings are the brown woody stems as I find they root better than the green stems. The cuttings will be wrapped with wet paper towels to retain moisture and packaged with great care for safe shipping. Growing Info & TipsThese Mexican Sunflowers produce gorgeous bright yellow flowers! It grows as a perennial in Zones 9+, but can be grown as an annual anywhere. Here in Florida, they flower year round, but in other areas will flower during summer until the first frost. They make for a nice hedge and can reach 14+ Ft tall so I trim them multiple times as year (and use them as chop and drop for a natural fertilizer). They are fast growers! They do well in full sun to part shade, can tolerate poor soil, and are drought tolerant once established. For Planting the Cuttings:Pot up the cuttings in pots with a nice with pre- moistened potting mix, burying about ½ of each cutting into the soil. If you like, you can use a natural rooting hormone (like aloe or honey water) to help them along. I start mine in pots outside under my trees for some shade. Keep the soil moist but not soggy! You should see new growth within a few weeks time. UsesThe Mexican Sunflower is an absolute favorite among the pollinators, including monarch butterflies! The large yellow flowers make for nice bright and cheery cut flowers. The leaves are an amazing natural fertilizer that I use in our garden for chop and drop (it grows back super fast) and for composting. Used as a green fertilizer the N-PK- ratio is 1.76- 0.82- 3.92 as good as chicken manure! Please Note: All of my cuttings are fresh and viable. Growing plants is fun! The majority of the time it is a success but sometimes it’s not. This just is the way it is with nature and gardening. I hope you experience success with all the cuttings, however because I am not there to plant them, I cannot be responsible for rooting failure due to improper planting or climate conditions etc. I do include a detailed note with planting advice with your order to help ensure your success. Shipping of Cuttings: I ship my cuttings via the Postal Service, USPS, as a First Class package with tracking. I will freshly cut the cuttings on the same day that i ship them to you. I will package them in a moist paper towel with great care to ensure safe delivery to you. These are fresh cuttings that will need to be planted upon their arrival to you.
