Description: Mexican hand-carved & stamped leather book cover, cover ONLY, 50+ years old, EUC Desc: Originally an address book, pages have been removed and all that remains are the front and back cover in a beautifully designed saddle brown leather. The front design seems to be that of an Aztec building above and, perhaps, a Royal eagle with a snake in its mouth beneath it. Those items seem to be accented with Saguaro cacti and, perhaps a design that represents a river or water. The back design is that of a floral pattern, two large roses with several types of leaves surrounding them. The background of both covers are in a pimpled pattern. There is a lot of beautiful detail to this cover and the right person can make this into a lovely book once again. Origin: 1970 Mexico, high school trip for Tom. LPI700407001. C.N.A.G. 30. C. Emp. 481738. Leon Perez Marca Reg. all inside on back cover. “Artesanias FINAS Indios Verdes” translates to “Green Indian Fine Crafts.” #: 682-05. Approx. dimensions: 7 ½” x 5” x ½”, weighs: 6 oz. Condition: So very nice for its age…yes, you do see the normal wear a 50+ leather book would have, small marks, little areas of discoloration from wear but, overall this cover is in spectacular condition. The inside end papers are beautiful, only a little bit of foxing around the edges.
