Description: Extremely scarce crest of the German DHV . German National Merchants Association. This group began in 1893 in Hamburg Germany representing the interests of commercial employees . Sadly was born out of the anti Semitic movement. Jewish people were not allowed to join, nor were women. An awful lot of history ( not good history, but still history) is assuming with this group. This stein has the crest on the front and is very well done. Mercury is on the handle, the God of commerce, travel and communication. Ironically Mercury was said to control the flow of information and often used this position to his advantage. This stein remains in very good condition with no chips nor cracks. No visible damage not crazing. A truly historical stein found in Nova Scotia Canada which house many of German decent. Stein measures approximately 6.5 inches from base to top of mercury man on the handle. Will be packed with extreme care to protect on its travels.
