Description: Colonial Massachusetts Silver Pine Tree Shilling 1652 NGC AU Details Bent, Cleaned from the HMS Feversham Shipwreck (1711). Noe - 29. Frosty silvery gray with a few small puffs of darker gray on both sides. There are traces of very fine granularity on both sides but overall the surfaces are decent. There is a swipe of dark oxidation crust at the top of the 6 in the date and the planchet is a bit bent, but overall this piece is really quite nice for a salvaged silver coin. If not for that single spot of crust you would think this piece was never lost at sea. The legends are all easily readable. Salvaged from the wreck of the HMS Feversham that was lost off the coast of Nova Scotia on October 7, 1711, and discovered in 1984. A total of 131 Massachusetts silver coins were recovered from that ship including 75 Pine Tree Shillings. Weight 70.0 grains.
