Pictures the castle concept and card soldiers for the Queen of Hearts in Walt Disney's Alice in Wonderland (1951). The "Queen of Hearts Castle" concept was one of the pieces of art that had been considered lost since Walt Disney initially provided the collection (then known as "Walt Disney's The Art of Animation") of 250 pieces in 1960 for display at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo. Lost for 46 years... the collection was rediscovered in 2005 at Chiba University Tokyo and plans were initiated for an updated exhibition of the art in 2006... to be titled "The Art of Disney." Several of Mary Blair's concepts were featured in the exhibit, including the one pictured here... along with a supplement of an additional 350 pieces of art on loan from the Walt Disney Animation Research Library (Glendale, California). Package also includes a rarely seen standard sized color postcard featuring a more detailed image of the Blair design; with text in Japanese on reverse of postcard. Package has always been displayed in folded position; as sold at the museum gift shop. Includes original price tag; originally selling for 1050 yen ($7.38) and reduced to 1000 yen ($7.03).
