Item Description Martin R-18 Sunburst 1943 (1937) Production of the rare Martin archtop guitar R-18 began in 1932 and was discontinued by 1942. The body size is 00 size, small and easy to hold, spruce top, mahogany sides and back, Medium scale mahogany neck and Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda) fingerboard. There is a crack repair under the f-hole on the 1st string side of the body top, and the hole where the jack was installed has been filled in on the body side. The pegs have been replaced with Krewson ones, and when the bushings were replaced, there was a chip in the wood on the top of the head. The nut width is approximately 44.5mm, and the neck is slightly triangular and sturdy, and although it is small in size, it produces a thick sound. The refret and nut have been replaced, but since it has been pushed in, there is some wear and tear.
