Description: Item : This painting was done by well known Southwest artist Louis De Mayo. The painting measures 7" by 9" (with frame 16 1/4" by 18 1/4") and is acrylic on paper. The painting is signed in the lower right and is in great condition. The mat is a shadowbox style that allows the "rough" edges of the paper to show which adds to the beauty of the piece. The frame is an attractive metal frame and covered with what feels to be plexiglass and is in good condition with just a few small scratches. This is a great opportunity to purchase one of Louis De Mayo's paintings at a very reasonable price. **Please Note: In the photos there is some distortion from reflected light . In person this painting shows beautifully. Kayenta is a small western town on the Navajo reservation. It is also a gateway to Monument Valley. Louis (Louie) de Mayo was born in 1926 in Philadelphia, Pa. and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He moved to Arizona in 1971 and was appointed director of highly regarded Arizona Highways Magazine. He has exhibited extensively in the United States in galleries, art centers, and museums. His work is included in many U.S, and international collections. From "Southwest Art" magazine: " Bold, daring and controlled simplicity fill DeMayo's canvases. His images come from a personal selection of activities that the artist has witnessed in his expeditions to the Indian reservations in Arizona and New Mexico. Says De Mayo, "it is the social issue of the isolation of the Indian from the mainstream of American life. Always a struggle to maintain the traditions." **To see more original paintings** - Click on the Paintings - Fine Arts category to the left of this . - Then click on the Category of your choice:- Native American, Western U.S., Eastern U.S., European, Asia & Middle East, Latin America, Sculpture I am currently listing wonderful old vintage and contemporary paintings every week on eBay.
