Description: Lot of 5 Antique Sandwich Glass Cup Plates Central 4-Point Rosette Decoration For Your For Your Antique Glass Collection-SandwichGlassLot2 Details Description: This is a lot of five antique pressed Sandwich Glass clear or colorless cup plates. The plates have an image of a 4-point rosette in the center surrounded repeating design consisting of a flat oval having two small dots at its ends and having five-sided shape above it. There are curved dotted lines on both sides of the design and two larger circles separating the design from the next one. The rim of the plate has repeating circles with small petals along their circumference while the edge of the plate is delicately scalloped. The back of the plate shows the design in reverse and can be felt as opposed to the front of the plate which is smooth. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain but most likely the mid 1800s (mid-19th century). Origin: Purchased at an estate sale in Southeastern Pennsylvania USA. The cup plates were produced in Sandwich Massachusetts. Size: The five plates measures ~3 5/8" each in diameter with four of the plates being ~1/2" each in height and the fifth being ~3/8" in height. The 5 plates together weigh slightly over one pound. Maker: Sandwich Glass Company. Marks: The plates are unmarked. Condition: The plates are in overall fair condition. They have no cracks, no repairs, and no breaks. The only thing we see is a few small chips at the edge of the plates to the scalloped pattern. These are difficult to see and it is a miracle the plates are still intact after being around for over 150 years. One plate (the one that is ~3/8" high) has about one inch of smoothed edge, where the scallops have melted during pressing (does not look like they were broken or chipped) which probably occurred during the manufacturing (see top plate on the right in the second photo at 4-5 o'clock). The plates are also soiled and could use a good cleaning. Because of the issues listed here we are selling the cup plates AS IS at a fraction of their true value.
