Description: A pair of vintage colour prints of London transport posters from the 1950s. The first is a panoply of farming scenes, a milkmaid and a cow, a farmer with a calf, geese, a pig and her piglets, a woman picking apples, three men harvesting, hens, and sheep all to found in the image. After a painting by James Arnold (1909-1999). The second is a different aspect of England titled 'Dome or Steeple' it depicts two ladies in Tudor costume, one holding a skull (Yorrick?), surrounded by architectural elements including a Churchyard, the dome of St Pauls and a fountain wiht sculpted figures. After a painting by Denys Nicholls (1914-1996). Each has a label verso with the title, artist's name and date of publication.. The London Underground symbol is just visible in the bottom left corner. These prints were sold by London Transport in the 60s at a cost of 3d each. Each is presented in a buff coloured card mount within a natural coloured light wood frame. All the mounts and frames are in excellent condition. Each measures 28.5 x 21cm including the frame Glazed and ready to hang. Postage £5 to mainland UK.
