The painting features one of Carlsbad's beautiful lagoons, surrounded by Eucalyptus trees, hills, & Miss. Ruth V. Clark (Ruth V. smith) standing peacefully at the waters edge. The oil painting on board was made around 1953 & measures 26"x20", the wood intricately carved teak? Wood frame measures 33.5"x26". The painting and the wood frame are both in excellent condition. "Chassie Reed Chapman (1887-1977). Art Teacher. Born in California on Feb. 12, 1887. Chapman was educated at Pomona College (B.A.), Stanford University, and the CCAC. She taught in the public schools of California at Kingsbury (1914-19), Grass Valley (1919-20) and San Diego from 1920. She died in the latter on Dec. 6, 1977.
