Leica IIIa Monté en Saare with Summitar f/2 50mm 1949

Description: This is a rare Saar-Leica camera with Summitar 1:2 50mm in original and working condition. There were only about 500 cameras manufactured in Sarre, which was a French zone of Germany from around 1949 - 1951. This was to avoid the high customs/tariff imposed on Leica cameras imported into France. They carried the engraving "Monté en Sarre" (assembled in Sarre) on the top plate. According to Lager, only about the first 200 copies had the sharkskin vulcanite and this is one of them.
