Description: Late 1800s Washington Territory Saloon Drink Token, T.E. Monahan Fairhaven WA. Made by Chas. Pick & Co of Chicago IL. Reads “Good For A Drink.” This is a very scarce item. Item has obvious signs of war and tear. This token was made for Thomas E. Monahan, who was an Irish Immigrant who ran a saloon in Fairhaven Washington, a southern section of Bellingham Washington. He built the building that the saloon stood in and it is still standing to this day. It is aptly named the Monahan Building, and is now home to the Fairhaven Runner & Walkers Store. Monahans original saloon was called The Turf Saloon. Turf Saloon closed in 1910 after the city voted on a “Dry Ballot”.
