Description: Late 16th-Early 17th Century Italian Stumpwork Embroidery Centerpiece. This piece was the centerpiece of an altar frontice piece that was located in Livorno, Italy. The crown at one point was embellished with gems but sadly pillaged under the military occupation. It is embroidered with heavy metallic thread as well as silk. The backing is weak and brittle as can be expected for its age. Some loose threads as can be expected as well.
