Description: Large Antique Hand Woven Gathering Basket Split Wood Hand Carved Swans Footed A fine example of woven split wood basketry, this large, unique gathering basket features a pair of wooden hand-carved swans on the handle (carved on both sides). This basket is also footed - sitting on one round foot - although the basket sits lopsided on it! The handle runs through the bottom of the basket. The outside of the basket has a slightly glossy finish. A large basket - measuring 16" long x 13" wide x 14 1/2" tall (incl swans). One of the strips in the weave is broken; but it is almost impossible to notice. See last photo for how it looks on both the inside and the outside (top photo is the inside).
