Selaginella lepidophylla is noted for its ability to survive almost complete desiccation; during dry weather in its native habitat, its stems curl into a tight ball (like a tumbleweed) and uncurl only when exposed to moisture. Set it in a shallow dish of water, and over the next few hours watch it begin to come back to life! Its leaves are fern-like; it does not actually form flowers. Sizes will vary once unfurled (usually is around 4-5 inches wide). The color of the "resurrected" plant will vary (some will be more green, and others more brown). Change out the water every few days to avoid molding, and store in a cool and dry place to have it curl back up. Legend says that these plants can be resurrected again and again for over 50 years!
