Description: This pair of Jensen 12" FLEXAIR C12-NF C6915 woofers were pulled from a properly working pair of Jensen TR-10 Bookshelf Speakers. The cabinets needed refinishing so I decide to part them out. These are the rare, 3-bolt ceramic magnet models, madeonly in 1960, 1961, and 1962. Many consider these to be better than the earlier Alnico magnet models and the later ceramic magnetmodels which do not have the bolts. There are comments in the Jensen Vintage Ceramic literature indicating that they were made to sound very close to the Alnico model but with greater power handling and bass capability. These will handle 25 Watts RMS. They are both 16 Ohm with a measured DCR of 11.1 ohms for both drivers. The cones and dust caps are near mint, not dry or brittle. There is no voice coil rub and they sound great. The treated fabric accordion surrounds are still flexible and the cones move in and out with a normal medium level of resistance. The clear coat treatment on the surrounds is consistent with no cracking or discoloration of the clearcoat. There is one very small, 1/2 long by 1/16 inch wide area at the inside edge of one of the surrounds that I repaired with Allene's Turbo Tacky Glue which drys clear to semi-opaque, depending upon the thickness of the glue. The repair is barely visible and does not affect the surround flexibility because it is on the inside edge of the surround. I accidently damaged the area by handling a tool in close proximity to the cone. The damage is not due to dry rot or cracking, and the excellent condition of the cones, dust caps, and surrounds, would indicate they were probably kept in a temperature-controlled environment for the last 60 plus years. The mounting gasket on the front of each basket is mostly even or slightly below the level of the edge of the frame. The thickness of the gasket was reduced by apx. 1/16 of an inch when the rear mounted drivers were removed from the cabinets. If you are rear mounting these to a baffle, using 1/8 inch thick, 1/2 inch wide, dense foam speaker gasketing tape, or 12" speaker caulk, both from Parts Express will work to avoid replacing the gaskets. Replacement gaskets are inexpensive and readily available if you choose to replace them. This is a really nice, rare pair of Jensen 12" FLEXAIR woofers that will last for year and do not need new surrounds, spiders, dust caps, or voice coils. Great for use as a woofer in a two-way or three-way home audio speaker or as a guitar speaker. Weight unpacked per driver is apx. 10 pounds. These will be shipped in two individual boxes bubble wrapped to avoid damage. Shipping price is for both boxes combinedAs-Is, No Returns.
