Description: For sale is a Japanese Tenugui, or hand towel by Hamamonyo featuring the Family Crests of Japan. The towel is folded and held with two red stitches to create a soft book of the crest designs with text in Japanese and English. Removing these two binding stitches allows the 100% cotton to be used as a traditional hand towel which typically measure about 14" x 35" (35 cm x 90 cm). Long sides are typically selvedge edges with no finishing on short ends (fraying is common). The towel is deep indigo blue, gray and natural color. This piece has some shelf wear visible on the stickers and with some frayed strings. It has the original binding to keep it in book form and the original stickers in Japanese. Made in Japan.
