Description: This is the original, one of a kind award from the French Academy of Cinema to James Dean for his performance as best actor in the film "Rebel Without A cause", Warner Bros. 1955. This award is equivalent to the US Oscar. Created by the world renown firm of "DAUM" crystal of France, bearing their etched hallmark. The award is made of clear crystal and shaped like a starfish with one arm etched with the words "A James Dean" and the arm next to it etched with the words "L'Academie du Cinema / Paris le 21 Juin 1956." This coveted award was issued posthumously as Dean had tragically died just months before. One of the most important awards issued to Dean who had just starred in only 3 films prior to his death in September of 1955. This award is in excellent condition and has been inspected and certified by "DAUM" and is accompanied by their Certificate of Authenticity. This award was previously offered through Juliens Auction House (see photo) with an estimate of $10,000 - $20,000.
