Description: Passata Bowls, also known as 'limmi,' originate from Puglia and they take the form of rustic handmade terracotta bowls. It was originally used to make tomato passata or to wash fruit and vegetables. The vintage bowl features a charming, glazed interior of splattered pesto-hued green over a creamy base. This splatter effect was added to keep insects and flies away from the passata or food. This surface application of the Pugliese limmi was created by hand, meaning each is a unique piece with its own characterful pattern. The bowls have aged beautifully, with the external terracotta unglazed and on display. The vintage vessel is perfect to add some farmhouse charm to a kitchen or tables setting, or as a unique storage vessel. All in beautiful condition. Large bowl measures 6” H x 13.5 across Medium bowl measures 5.5” H x 11.5” across Small bowl measures 4.5” H x 9.5” across No cracks or chips
