Description: This Carnival glass butter dish was made by Indiana Glass in the 1970's. The color of this one is "Sunset Red" and is predominantly iridescent reddish orange tones that will change in depth and appearance depending on light they are in. The 1970's pattern was sold as "Heirloom" . "Heirloom" was produced from a pattern that appeared in catalogues as early as 1911 and was called "123 Pattern" by Indiana Glass Co. Collectors of pattern glass sometimes refer to the original production as "Paneled Daisy" or "Fine Cut" . The original early 1900's "123 Pattern" was only made in clear glass - Indiana Glass reintroduced this glass pattern in the Late 1960s and 1970's in various carnival glass colors. The dish pictured is in pretty perfect condition - There are no scratches cracks, chips, stains, patchy colors, water marks or any other problem - The pictures illustrate the piece very well. It is 7 1/4 " in Width - 5 " in Height . The interior bottom tray has a raised rim for retaining a round of butter without it squeezing out and making a mess of the rim of cover - It can also be used for rounds of brie cheese or any cheese available in a small round - It is a usable piece and has great colors that are perfect for Fall and Winter Holidays - Our Family has used a similar one for years and lining the tray with wax paper has prevented scratches - Whether collecting or using it is a great looking glass dish. It is not dishwasher safe ! hand wash only.
