Description: Indestro’s Select Steel tools were one of its most successful lines. Intended as an economy brand using less expensive carbon-manganese steel, they were manufactured with the same precision of its chrome alloy tools. Initially the tools were identified as “Drop Forged Alloy Steel” with the words appearing in the dart-like depression in the wrench handle. This was soon changed to “Drop Forged Select Steel”. Another identifying attribute of the early Select Steel tools was the inclusion of “Chicago U.S.A.” on the side opposite “Select Steel” (see images). The “Chicago” designation disappeared during the war years (1941-1945). This #27 Wrench fits the 1939-1941 age range. The Wrench is well used, but shows no evidence of abuse or misuse. Minor nicks and paint-like marks. It is straight and true. As is our custom, we did minimal cleaning, but it appears that the Wrench may be “triple-plated with polished heads” as in Indestro’s description. As we have come to expect of eighty year old Indestro Wrenches, they easily represent another piece of twentieth-century, high-quality tool history. We will ship the Wrench by USPS 1st Class mail on the next regular business day following receipt of payment.
