It has a unique shaped trunk that's swollen in the center forming a spindle shape, hence the name. When mature it can tolerate temperatures to 30F for a short period of time. It prefers full sun but can also be grown in light shade. This palm is great both indoors and outdoors. A very ornamental palm used widely in the landscape and critically endangered in the wild.
