Description: Die Hubert Deuringer Story (3-CD) Deuringer, Hubert Hubert DeuringerForeword Ulrich Tukur For my confirmation in 1971 I got a bump of old shellac records, the gift of an aunt, who obviously appreciated my retrograde musical taste very much. They were recordings of Heinz Munsonius, Albert Vossen, Kurt Drabek, Hans Georg Schütz and the Bar-Trio. I was thrilled because it opened up a musical world for me that had its own unique charm. So far I had played the piano and tried to emulate my idols Fats Waller and Earl Hines. But the nimble, jazzy Vossen and Munsonius, whose instrument shone so elegantly and had an unmistakable sound, the ravishingly cheerful and groovy of their music - I couldn't forget that anymore. In 1977 I bought my first accordion. I had begun to study in Tübingen and was so financially burnt down that I sought my salvation in street music. It was a Hohner Tango II M. I loved this instrument and practiced day and night. The swing, which these great instrumentalists mastered so confidently, I absolutely wanted to get right. Sort of. I bought notes. And one of my first issues was a collection of pieces by a certain Hubert Deuringer. He annoyed me because it was not easy to play what he had composed. I grew up with Deuringer, who stood like no other for the German accordion culture of the post-war period. Not as big as I actually wanted it to be, but at least so that this instrument became a lifelong accompaniment and joy for me. Hubert Deuringer's diverse and multi-faceted musical genius can now be experienced again in a magnificent and carefully made new edition, and that is not only great, but long overdue - thanks to Bear Family! The production lists of Südwestfunk available to the editors of this edition show 2028 (!) titles recorded by Deuringer in his numerous line-ups alone, right up to the major radio orchestras in Baden-Baden and Kaiserslautern. It seems almost impossible to put together a representative selection on 3 CDs, but the editors' highest priority was to emphasize the versatility of this exceptional artist in a way never seen before and to free Deuringer from the very dusty and musty image of the "Swabian musician", which he for the most part emanates from himself! The fact that we could win the "Rolls Royce among the record companies", Bear Family Records, is more than a stroke of luck! Many people stood by us for this production: besides the great team of Bear Family we especially thank Ulla Deuringer for her great support; she could not only help us with the procurement of the immense material, but also told us a lot of interesting facts about the life and work of her husband. Furthermore, dear Uli Tukur, our heartfelt thanks go to you for your great interest and the fine words about the escort of this edition.
