Hoya carnosa (White Flowers) - Wax Vine

Description: Hoya carnosa (White Flowers and Silver-Pink Speckled Foliage.) Hoya carnosa, or wax plant, is an amazing vine that has been in cultivation for over 200 years. This beautiful vine is one among many species of Hoya that are native to Eastern Asia and Australia, and is a common house plant. Grown for its attractive waxy foliage, and elegant clusters of velvety and waxy flowers, which are highly fragrant at night, they offer an intoxicating scent reminiscent of chocolate and vanilla. It grows easily in pots and hanging baskets, and makes an ideal houseplant. Prefers to grow with morning sun and afternoon shade, in a light, well-drained potting mix. The plants like to dry out about 1/3 of the way down, before watering again. Some say to keep Hoya carnosa above 57 degrees F... my plant goes into the upper 30s to low 40s, at night, in an unheated greenhouse each winter, with no ill effects. The plant is kept much dryer in winter, than it is during the growing season. One of the very first plants to grace my collection, I first started cultivating this beauty in the early 1970s, and it's still one of my all-time favorite plants to grow. This is the classic white-flowered form, with waxy green leaves with silver-pink speckles. This offering is for one multi-node, rooted(ish) cutting in New Zealand Sphagnum Moss and a 2 1/2" pot.
