They are like my plant children and I would like them to go to a good home:) You will receive Lenten Rose starts of the age and size you choose from the drop down. Size can vary by time of year. Will be shipped bare root, with most or all of the leaves clipped to reduce stress to the plant. Two - leaf Seedlings are only available very early in the season. flowers are generally in shades of purple, green, white, burgundy, pink. I try to pull plants from different parts of the garden, if you are ordering more than one, so that there is a better, but not guaranteed, chance of getting more than one color. These come from mother plants in my own garden and they are subject to open pollination, so it is tough to know just what color immature plants will turn out to be. the 2024 sprouted ones are only about a month old as of mid March, so they will be new seedlings that will require prompt care - as all bare root plants do. These are very hardy plants, but will do best if planted outdoors in good draining soil and tended to right awayShipping charges include handling - which is labor intensive in order to get you the freshest and healthiest delivery. These plants flower longer - usually around 3-4months, than any other perennial in my garden. The flowers each last months, and change in appearance and somewhat color throughout that time. Toward the end of the flower life, beautiful seed pods form in the middle of the flower petals. Please see photos showing sizes. On the left, the largest size is 2-4 years of age The separate picture of the 2 and 3 leaf seedlings are the smallest sizes and are about 1-2 inches tall in their first spring. These seedlings will begin to look like the ones to the right of the ruler by around June-August. Lenten Rose is the queen of the shade and blooms when all the other plants in your garden are in their winter hibernation. Lenten Rose has year round interest, blooming in the winter, then gracing the shadiest gardens where other plants struggle with compact palm like waxy green foliage. This plant typifies the characteristics that plant breeders and flower gardeners desire - low maintenance, disease and pest free, very long-lived plant, and up to four months of bloom, in a luscious array of colors, including white, pink, green and purple. For zones 4-9, grows 15-19", Space 15-19" in loamy well drained soil. Water until established, once established these are very drought resistant. Lenten Rose typically takes around at least 2-3 years - But they are worth the wait and will provide decades of months long blooms each winter/spring. ALL PLANTS ARE come FROM MY gardens and shipped in a bare root state. THEY WILL ARRIVE WITH ROOTS INTACT AND WRAPPED. They will do best if planted as soon as your receive them.I ship about every 7-10 business days- but sometimes quicker - just depends upon conditions and shipping cost includes handling which is labor intensive. I have packed hundreds of plants and sent them thru the mail. No matter how well they are packed, plants do get stressed during shipping. Please be patient with them and wait until they put on new growth to determine how your plants are doing. Please note that your plants will not look "picture perfect" upon receipt. This is because they are shipped bare root. They will transplant into your garden and become much happier. Your sign that they are alive and doing well is when they start to send up new growth...Which may be in the Spring, if it is Fall/Winter.
