After the unit has been assembled and batteries have been installed, turn the sensitivity control knob to setting 4. Wave your hand across the sensor until the valve clicks. You should then hear another click after about 5 seconds. When the valve clicks a second time it indicates that the unit is functioning properly. Stake the unit in the ground where you want to repel animals. Orient the sensor towards the direction you expect animals to enter the protected area and adjust the range setting. Then attach a standard garden hose to the input connection. Test to ensure that the sensor detects movement at the range you have selected.
