A mala is a strand of beads (traditionally 108, or a fraction thereof) used for keeping count during meditation. Mala beads have been in use for thousands of years, with the earliest examples dating back to the 8th century B.C. WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WITH A MALA? Malas were originally to be used solely for meditation, but these days many are wearing them as necklaces or bracelets. A mala is the perfect accessory for participation in sound healing, cacao, drumming circles and other spiritual ceremonies. (Plus, they just look cool!) SPIRITUAL PRACTICE A mala is mainly to be used as a tool focusing awareness and concentration during your spiritual practice, meditation, prayer or reflection. Set an intention with your mala when you receive it, and wear it throughout the day as a constant reminder of your intentions. BEAD PREPARATION All beads are sage-smudged and blessed under a new moon before being used to create my custom malas.
