Description: BRAND NEW Still sealed in the original plastic wrap HANDSOMELY PUBLISHED BY MORNINGSIDE PRESS, DAYTON, OHIO, IN 1998 In 1861, Williamson S. Oldham, a 47 year old native of Tennessee, was selected as a member of the Provisional Congress of the Confederate States of America as one of the representatives from Texas, his adopted home. In November 1861, he was elected to the Senate in the First Congress and, along with Louis T. Wigfall, represented Texas until the close of the war. After the last Confederate Congress adjourned in March 1865, Oldham left Richmond headed for Texas, but fearing capture, he took a circuitous route across the lower South to reach his destination. Still apprehensive of arrest, Oldham fled to Mexico, moved briefly to Canada, but upon learning he had received a pardon returned to Texas, where he died in 1868. FREE Shipping included
