Muhlenberg, Speaker,” requesting Pennsylvania State Treasurer David Rittenhouse to, “Pay Daniel Clymer, Esquire, the sum of twenty-two pounds 11 p. it being for 27 Days attendance in Assembly and mileage.” IMPORTANT DOCUMENT SIGNED BY FREDERICK MUHLENBERG ISSUING PAYMENT FOR ONE OF THE LAST PENNSYLVANIA STATE REPRESENTATIVES TO SERVE DURING THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION Muhlenberg issues payment for one of the last state representatives to serve during the American Revolution. Clymer received a paycheck for his service in the assembly from August 31 to September 26, 1783 with the war officially ending with the signing of the Treaty of Paris on September 3, 1783. Daniel Clymer (1748-1810) was a Revolutionary War patriot and officer who served as a Signer for the Continental Paper Money, Secretary to the Lancaster Convention, Deputy Commissary-General of Prisoners, Commissioner of Claims of the Treasury, and member of the Pennsylvania State Assembly for Berks County from 1782 to 1784 and 1786 to 1787. He was first cousins to Declaration of Independence Signer George Clymer. Frederick Muhlenberg (1750-1801) was an American minister and politician who served as the Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1780 to 1783 and the first Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1789 to 1791 and 1793 to 1795. David Rittenhouse (1732–1796) was an American astronomer and inventor and the first director of the United States Mint.
