External Controller Mod Board For DS and 3DS by Loopy [PSX, SNES, N64, GCN, Wii]

Description: This is a preprogrammed external controller mod board. This board lets you use *wired* DualShock 1/2, SNES, N64, GameCube, and Wii Classic controllers on your DS or 3DS. Originally designed and coded by Loopy, who makes DS and New 3DS XL capture cards on 3dscapture.com I offer an installation service for this for the original 3DS XL, "New" 3DS XL, and original DS. Please check my other listings. -- These boards are now 2 layer boards so that the through hole slots are easier to solder to and less prone to ripping off the board. There are also alternative solder points for power, ground, and all the controller signal lines on the back of the board. There are now jumper pads for the voltage line. This is used for reprogramming; disconnect it to connect the programmer safely. Only tested and confirmed working with official and officially licensed controllers and some adapters. Raphnet adapters do not work. BlueRetro Wii-Ext adapters do work, but they must be powered externally (leave the 3.3v pin unconnected between the ESP32 and the 3DS, and power the ESP32 via USB). Mayflash adapters do work (tested their GC to Wii and S/NES to Wii adapters) Not compatible with the GC+ 2.0 unless you use Mayflash's GC to Wii adapter. It is compatible with Nicohood's Nintendo library (only tested GameCube, not N64). It is compatible with the Wavebird, but it uses a lot of power. Ideally, power it externally like the BlueRetro adapter. The controller mod allows you to remap any controller button(s) to any DS or 3DS button(s) except for the Power button and the touch screen. Each controller type can have one custom layout. The left stick is mapped to the circle pad. For controller types with a right stick, there are 4 different modes: Circle Pad Pro Mode: Maps the right stick to the CPP stick, and the ZL, ZR, and R buttons on the CPP to the corresponding buttons on your controller. This mode is automatically entered when a game pings for it. This mode is only available on the non-"New" 3DS models: original 3DS, 3DS XL, and 2DS. Shared Circle Pad Mode: The right stick and left stick both act as the circle pad on the 3DS. Button Map Mode: You can map the cardinal directions to different buttons on the 3DS. By default, it is set to ABXY. Smash Stick Mode: Inputs a quick, uncharged Smash attack (circle pad direction + A). Hold Z (or ZR) to charge the smash attack. There are two firmware versions, depending on which console family you plan on installing it on: DS or 3DS. Let me know which one you want. The main difference between the two is that the DS has the home button unmapped by default. This is because the Home button combination interferes with the soft reset button combination, not allowing you to soft reset. You're also not able to unmap the Home button once the console is closed, so it's unmapped by default to avoid any issues. The left analog stick acts as the DPAD. The right analog stick acts as ABXY in the matching direction (right = A, etc.) There is a 10K Ohms pull-up resistor on the top right corner for the Home button. This is required if you're installing this on a console without a Home button, otherwise, you won't be able to remap any buttons. Otherwise, you're free to remove it. This mod is not difficult for most models, but it is tedious due to the amount of wires needed. I will provide images with the test points labeled for the following: controller board itself, original DS, original 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, and New 3DS XL, as well as placement and routing suggestions. The New 3DS XL is very difficult due to having very small pads to solder to for Home, L, and R. It is absolutely not for beginners. The New 3DS XL can not take advantage of Circle Pad Pro mode with the controller mod, and the controller mod does not have access to ZL, ZR, nor the c-stick. The DS Lite requires permanent removal of the stylus holder in order to fit. The board uses ~3 milliamps at all times if the console is on. That includes sleep mode. If a controller is plugged in, the controller will also consume power. Every board is tested before being shipped.
