Description: Welty, Eudora - The Wide Net & Other Stories - Harcourt Brace and Company: New York, 1943 - First Edition / First Printing - “First Edition” stated on the copyright page as required in order to denote the first printing of the first edition. The book has a few spots and some trivial wear but over a still easily near fine or better example. The boards remain very sharp and clean, binding is square and tight, and there is no writing or other markings internally. The dust jacket has an old tape mend on the top verso of the spine, sunning to the delicate pink lettering as is nearly always the case, light soiling, rubbing, and general wear. A most presentable copy of a book which is notorious for always being in poor condition due to the war time restrictions when it was manufactured. This example has been signed, dated and inscribed by Welty on the title page. The recipient was William Boozer, the founder of the William Faulkner newsletter. Welty’s third book and likely her hardest to find in acceptable condition. One of only 2500 copies of the first printing. A rather uncommon book which is outright scarce signed and in this condition. All books are offered with a full 30 day postage paid return policy. All books which are in dust jackets will be mailed with a clear archival dust jacket protector fitted. Shipping costs can be combined if multiple purchases are made. Items will be packaged and shipped within one business day unless otherwise noted.
