A whimsical story about a girl who encounters a katydid who tells her about the world of fairies and relates the story of one particular fairy known as the Imp of Perversity. Edward James Austen (b. ca. 1850, London) was an English illustrator. He and his wife, Frances, wrote children's stories together which he illustrated. In 1891 they published Elfie's Visit to Cloudland and the Moon. Edward was best known for his painting of cycloramas, some of which were exhibited at worlds fairs, including the ''Cylorama of Jerusalem.'' He also created the large Atlantic City exhibit known as ''The Creation of the World'' which appeared in 1908 and had its own dedicated building on the Boardwalk.
