Description: This 1965-68 silkscreen by Eduardo Vera Cortes (1926-2006) was created for "El Puente," a movie made by the Division for Community Education (DIVEDCO) of the government of Puerto Rico. The serigraph is in good condition and never used. Colors are strong and there are no age spots (See photo). There are modest tears or folding on the lower left corner, upper white border, right white border and top right corner (See photos) The bottom is partially cut off (See photo). Artist Eduardo Vera Cortes signed his name on the plate (See photo). The movie, El Puente, directed by Amilcar Tirado, is based on a true story and won numerous awards. It's about a community that worked to build a bridge so their children can go to school during the rainy season. BIO: Vera Cortes was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico in 1926 and died in 2006. He was a graphic artist, illustrator and sculptor. He's considered a member of the acclaimed "Fifties Generation" of Puerto Rican artists.
