Description: Famed ventriloquist Edgar Bergen signed autographed this letter typed on his personal stationery dated May 28, 1956 to Ed Sullivan’s right hand man Carmine Santullo passing his regrets in not being able to attend an Anniversary celebration for the eighth anniversary of The Ed Sullivan show (which began June 20, 1948) as he would be in Europe at that time. Beginning a career in vaudeville and radio, he later appeared on television in versions of his own show most often with his character Charlie McCarthy.
