Description: A rare softball by the iconic softball pitcher Eddie “The King” Feigner (d.2007) known for his four-man touring team known as “The King and His Court” along with the signature of his wife known as “The Queen,” Anne Marie Feigner and Eddie Aucion another of the four team members. Feigner has signed along the huge sweet spot inscribing, “The King and His Court” on either side of his signature. The ball is dated 8-13-99, dating it from the season during which 74 year old Feigner had announced his retirement having thrown 11,000 games, striking out more than 140,000 batters, 10,000 of them while pitching blindfolded, 930 no-hitters and 238 perfect games since the February 15, 1946 team beginning. Feigner also only allowed 2 homeruns in his whole career. Feigner famously entertained thousands since forming his four-man touring team that took on all comers fielding only a catcher, first baseman, shortstop and his pitching. Among his skill, Feigner was able to pitch behind his back, blindfolded.Among Feigner’s famous games was one played on February 18, 1967 when he appeared in a celebrity charity softball game against many Major League players when he struck out Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Brooks Robinson, Roberto Clemente, Maury Wills, and Harmon Killebrew all in-a-row.Of further note to draw a chuckle perhaps, the model softball is a “TRUMP” Classic. This large sphere would make quite a trophy display for fans of both softball and baseball alike. The ball is accompanied by a illustrated souvenir program / booklet from The King and His Court (1951 Edition). Very good condition.
