DESCRIPTION: Unusual early antique daguerreotype image taken during the very early days of popular daguerreotype photography, c1845. Has elderly man and woman, PROBABLY HUSBAND & WIFE, PROBABLY THEIR FIRST "MODERN TECHNOLOGY PHOTO!!!. I apologize for the reflected light/camera in my scans, obviously not part of the actual photo itself, which is clear. Simple brass mat type as shown, typical of the decade prior to 1850. This dag is very unusual to show such an elderly married couple. Nicely seated side by side. Nicely dressed in best clothes, him with long white hair and her with early type bonnet, etc. Great appearance. Given their age, at least in their 70's or older, THEY WERE BORN DURING THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR OR EARLIER, THEN LIVED TO EXPERIENCE THIS NEW PHOTO TECHNOLOGY!!! You wonder what is going through their minds as they pose, and all that they have experienced in their lives!! In its original leather case, with nice impressed geometric design. Hinge is split and has not been taped or repaired. HOWEVER, STILL THE ORIGINAL CASE THAT THE PHOTO HAS BEEN IN FOR 180 LONG YEARS!!! THIS IS A VERY INTERESTING EARLY DAG. ALWAYS VERY NICE TO FIND SUCH AN UNUSUAL EARLY IMAGE !!!
