Description: Mbole tribe currency spear. Early 19th century. Made by the mbole tribe. From Congo /D.R.C. West Africa. Hand forged with decorations on the spear head. Hand forged spike at the other end. 62” long with stand. Spear head is 4 1/4” at the widest. Stand is 8 1/2” X 8 1/2”. Stand is included. In excellent condition with no damage or repairs. Fantastic patina. Currency spears were driven in the ground where the bride would live to prove dowry was paid.
