The JULIA, with its retro, visaalike looks, was designed in the image of Italian guitars from the 1950s and 1960s. Features such as the pickguard covering more than half of the body, the uniquely shaped soundhole, and the oval control plate combine to give this guitar a stylish vintage look that is hard to describe. The front pickup is a Domino P-90, which is also used on Starplayer and other guitars, and the rear pickup is a Split/King Dual-Coil Pickup. This Split/King can be switched between a single-coil sound and a humbucker sound by toggling a switch. The rear Split/King switch is independently mounted from the 3-way lever switch on the master control. One of the mini-switches visible behind the tremolo unit is it. The other is a direct switch dedicated to the rear pickup. These combinations allow for a very wide range of sound makeup. All Duesenberg guitars and basses are treated with another ingenious German product - the "Plek" fret dressing machine, which guarantees perfect fret height and shape.
