The title references the famous last words of Captain James Lawrence, a naval officer who commanded the USS Chesapeake during a battle with the British frigate HMS Shannon. The book delves into the events and characters of that era, providing a fictionalized account of the war, featuring Commander Oliver Hazard Perry along with the ship Niagara. I acquired this book from a private estate. I found if safely tucked away on a library bookshelf where it had been for decades. CONDITION: This antique book is in good condition, as evidenced by the photos. The front cover is decorated with a nice print of Commander Oliver Hazard Perry in the midst of a naval battle. The covers are in very good with some age-expected edge and corner wear condition. The inside covers are in good condition, with some cracking and separation present at the front hinge. The only markings present is a neatly written gift inscription on the front endpaper. The pages are in good to very good condition. The pages are crisp. There is no foxing on the pages. Between pages 56 and 57 the binding is cracking (see photo), but all pages are attached to the binding, with the exception of the second endpaper that is loose in the book.
