Description: Dinosaur age crocodile tooth fossil in a great display case with toy. This fossil was found in the Kem Kem Beds of Morocco. I'm not sure the exact species of crocodile. The following genus of crocodile have been found in the Kem Kem Beds: Aegisuchus, Antaeusuchus, Araripesuchus, Elosuchus, Hamadasuchus, Kemkemia, Laganosuchus, and Lavocatchampsa. This beautiful tooth is about 3/4" long. The fossil comes in a unique display case and includes a laminated information card. Also includes a skeleton toy to display next to the fossil. The toy comes UNASSEMBED. When assembled, the toy is about 8" long and 1 1/2" tall. The toy is easy to take apart and put back together. This toy is not suitable for children under five years old because of small parts. All fossils sold are authentic and one-of-a-kind. No replicas. Crocodile, (order Crocodylia, or Crocodilia), any of 23 species of generally large, ponderous, amphibious animals of lizard-like appearance and carnivorous habit belonging to the reptile order Crocodylia. Crocodiles have powerful jaws with many conical teeth and short legs with clawed webbed toes. They share a unique body form that allows the eyes, ears, and nostrils to be above the water surface while most of the animal is hidden below. The tail is long and massive, and the skin is thick and plated.Crocodiles are a living link with the dinosaur-like reptiles of prehistoric times and are the nearest living relatives of the birds. A large variety of crocodilian fossils have been discovered that date back 200 million years to the Late Triassic Epoch. Fossil evidence also suggests that three major radiations occurred. Only one of the four suborders of crocodiles has survived to modern times. The order Crocodylia includes the “true crocodiles,” alligators, caimans, and gavials.Like all reptiles, crocodiles are diapsids—i.e., they have two openings on each side of the skull. Crocodiles also show the most important characteristics of the group that includes the dinosaurs (subclass Archosauria). The skull exhibits distinctly developed upper and lower temporal fenestrae (that is, openings behind the eye sockets); the teeth arise from sockets, and the roof of the skull lacks an opening for the parietal organ—a median, dorsal outgrowth of the brain. Within the Archosauria, the crocodiles are a separate order, since they have developed a secondary bony palate, which encloses the nasal passage from the exterior nasal openings to the choanae (internal nostrils).
