Description: Hi Collectors. This is a lovely antique plate by D.E. McNicol, in East Liverpool, Ohio, probably from around 1900. It was a plate given "with compliments of" by J.R. Kaardal in Winger, Minnesota. I wasn't able to find what business or reason Mr. Kaardal was giving plates away way back then. I find other Kaardal's in Minnesota yet, but didn't interrupt their lives to try to figure it out. The next owner can do so if they wish. I'm not sure if the plate was a "second" or someone streaked something over the name long ago or ???, but I didn't want to rub too hard cleaning it to see if the smear would come off or not. It's too bad it's there, but doesn't affect the portrait or loveliness of the overall plate. The plate is about 9 1/3" across. Please read condition & review photos well. I couldn't find another identical plate. And it took me a lot of effort to find another plate with the same decal, but I did run into a plate by the National China Co, (NC Co, ELO) with her. They're the ones who referred to her as a "Gibson Girl". Gibson Girls were women who were painted by Charles Gibson, who painted beautiful women with an air of independence and education, "new women"! I usually ship within one day of receiving payment. I like to be paid within 2 days of auction's close. 4858
