Description: Cream of Kentucky Special Blended Whiskey. Blended and bottled by Schenley Distillers. Original 1940s sale price of 1.15 marked in pencil on front label. It retains some of the ...plastic?... seal, but part of it is hanging on for dear life, and the larger piece comes off at will. You'll see it in different spots in each of the photos. Practically all of the tax revenue strip is there. It's the "series III" style, which started in 1945. The glass bottle itself is dated 1947, but getting the 4 and 7 to show up in the same picture was near-impossible for me--see the photos. Since the bottle could have been used some time after its date, the best I can say is that this is from circa 1947. The only issue I see with the paper labels is a little slice is missing from the "Mark of Quality" star. The rest look fine for their age. Markings on the bottom of the bottle are a large D 9 in the center. Above the D is a 01, above the 9 is the 47. A bottle maker's mark is at the edge but I don't recognize it (I don't know much about bottles). It has the "Federal Law Forbids Sale or Re-Use of this Bottle" mark, and of course "Half Pint" on the bottom. When my father was young, he thought these old bottles were interesting, so he saved the bottle whenever his parents would finish one. Since 1962 they've been in a box tucked away in the house I grew up in, and only recently did I unearth them.
