After studying at the Cleveland School of Art, he worked for W.F. Whitney Co. of N. Ashburnham, Massachusetts, before coming for Grand Rapids in 1927. His first position was as a designer for the Sligh Furniture Co. He was a member of the Grand Rapids Furniture Designers Association and at the time of his death, March 4, 1952, he was designer for furniture companies in Louisville, Kentucky; Lenoir, North Carolina; Hagerstown, Maryland; Lexington, Kentucky, and Listowel, Ontario.
