Description: Up for bid is a wonderful limited edition offset lithograph print by the acclaimed American artist CLAES OLDENBURG. This print was created in 1991 and published by Printed Matter, NYC as part of a series of works that were based on the concept of a common "ex libris" book plate. Other participating artists included Larry Clark, Francesco Clemente, Eric Fischl, Jenny Holzer, Claes Oldenburg, Faith Ringgold, and Nancy Spero. The Claes Oldenburg contribution was designed as a facsimile of a small ruled notebook page, and is a counterpart to his lithograph entitled Thrown Ink Bottle with Fly and Dropped Quill. Printed by Abrams Gieber Warhover Lithographers Inc. (NYC), on a sheet of die-cut Mohawk Superfine woven paper. The print is in mint condition, and measures 5" x 3". The edition size was 100 archival boxes, each containing 250 bookplate prints (249 unsigned copies and an identical signed and numbered copy). This auction is for one single unsigned copy.
